What can I say? I absolutely loved this book. It was such a funny, light-hearted nostalgic read. You are a very talented writer as you clearly navigated some sensitive issues pertaining to relationship, family and race. The ending bought tears to my eyes but I did smile at the way Imani stays true to her character. I can’t wait to see what Nina Unchained brings, well done.

I think it’s important for you as the writer to understand how good you are. I would actually have loved to have been friends with Imani when I was her age. I love her characterisation. I love the way it touches on so many family issues. To make you do this is a very talented in my eyes and I definitely appreciate the book. I keep seeing myself at that age I love all the cultural references.

I think so many women that grew up in inner cities in the UK will relate to it. Fantastic read

This was such a throwback to my teens in the 90's. I can vicariously live through Imani, all the things that i was not allowed to do growing up in a strict Christian home but can imagine my school friends were probably doing!!
I can totally see this as an audio book and even a web series.

This book was sooo good!!! I could not put it down! It was so funny!!! There is no way that I would have been able get up to even half the things Imani was getting up to at her age, but this was so well written I definitely felt like I was given the opportunity to step back in time & relive life through Imani’s eyes!!! Lol! You can’t help but warm to her character, & although there is so much humour in what she says, there is also that underlying sadness which is cleverly captured. There are so many moments that make you wish you were able to just be there to look out for her & her friends and to help to make them see sense & make the right decisions.
I will 100% be recommending this book to everyone.

It's so interesting because even though it's not a running narrative I still feel like I'm getting to know Imani more and more and I love her character. She's so typical of that age it also has depth like her relationship with Gaynor and with Chana. Plus I like how she defends Kim. I was often the only white girl in my friend group and so got stick at times, although I didn't act like Kim does at times.
I am so glad your page came up on my feed! I really do wish you so much success I'm excited to order Nina unchained when it comes out.
